In sostanza, la pastiera è composta da pasta frolla ripiena di grano, canditi, aromi e ricotta freschissima. Una delle più rinomate è La Pastiera Napoletana, in via Benedetto Croce 50, nel quartiere Spaccanapoli. Qui è possibile mangiare la pastiera sempre con la preparazione di quella tradizione con grano cotto, la ricotta, i canditi e l’acqua di fiori d’arancio. Un’altra pasticceria importante dov’è possibile degustare la pastiera è Leopoldo dal 1940, via Chiaia 258: qui è possibile anche mangiarla in monoporzione. Inoltre, Leopoldo fa anche spedizioni in giro per l’Italia.

Un’altra pasticceria è Moccia, via San Pasquale 21, che usa prodotti artigianali da forno di assoluta qualità. Celebre per le pizzette rotonde e i taralli, è possibile anche mangiare sfogliatelle, babà, struffoli. Qui la pastiera è preparata con ricotta di bufala, più cremosa di quella di pecora e di mucca. Immancabile, infine, anche Carraturo, situato a Porta Capuana in via Casanova 97. Qui la specialità sono le sfogliatelle ricce e frolle, ma è possibile assaggiare ogni tipo di dolce. Nel periodo pasquale è possibile trovare una pastiera alta ed umida con la giusta percentuale di canditi e ricotta.
